DZ Questions that were on my Test:
1.5 mm rear tread depth; 3 mm front tread depth
Max in a 7 day cycle-max 70 hrs driving of truck
In 24 hr /14 hr driving period – need 8 hrs off (book has different off duty times but this was on test-Answer is 8 hrs for this question of 14 hrs)
You Break down-Flares/pylons placed 30 m/100 ft front and back of the truck
Your travel distance between the vehicle in front of you – 60m/200 ft from next vehicle
ABS 1) reduces steering loss by preventing skid 2) but may not reduce stopping distance* this is the important point
Speed limiting devices on commercial vehicles are set at 105 km/hr
Spring Brakes apply/start applying at 60 psi
Threshold Braking- brake just before or skid starts, then ease off and rebrake
Max height of vehicle – 4.15 m
Max width of vehicle – 2.6 m
Registered Gross weight- weight to which permit has been issued
Gross Weight- combined weight of vehicle and load
When to Report accident –damage is – $2000
Stopping/stop distance from rear of school bus -20 m
Round abouts- inside island is for rear tires to go over (not as a guide-got this one wrong!)
Signs to study- I had dangerous goods not allowed (red circle crossed out w black diamond ) and some people had green circle w black diamond in middle that means dangerous goods allowed
White sign with 3 black trucks & zeros behind them- weight for bridge
Minor and Major defects and what you are to do- major- cannot/do not drive vehicle
Minor defect- clearance lamp out/damaged or damaged wiper blade
License- cannot lend or…?(let me know what one cannot do besides lend)
Overhanging load at back needs red flag (day) , red light at night—when over 5ft
Normal operating pressure – 80-145 psi
Front limiting valve (hand) –decrease front braking 50%
Cut in and Cut out pressures –either governor or compressor is the answer as I remember
Parking –need a clear view in both directions 125 M/400 ft
Stop from the railway –not less than 15 feet
No parking within 10 ft of a Fire hydrant
Distance between axles more (or less?) increases traction ( i think it is more distance between increases traction esp cornering)-but not sure
Play in the steering wheel is called what? ” Lash” (and if Lash is too great, then it is a major defect and truck must be taken out of service)
